Team Nemesis(SJSU Cam)
Abstract
This is a digital camera implemented using the SJONE board. The camera is mounted on a 3D printed box, this contains a LCD screen behind to display the image being captured by the camera. To implement the complete functionality of the digital camera, a SD card is integrated which can store the images.
Objectives & Introduction
The objective for this project was to learn how timing and buffer play a important rule in capturing the pixels from the camera and displaying them on the LCD screen. The following objectives were set for the project: 1. Integrate a camera (mention what kind of camera ), which has a better rate of capturing the image with the SJONE board. 2. Integrate the LCD board by choosing the right resolution. 3. Have a menu implemented for the options available on the digital camera.

Schedule
Show a simple table or figures that show your scheduled as planned before you started working on the project. Then in another table column, write down the actual schedule so that readers can see the planned vs. actual goals. The point of the schedule is for readers to assess how to pace themselves if they are doing a similar project.
Week# | Date | Task | Actual |
---|---|---|---|
1 | 4/17 | 1. Placing order for the components required in the project. 2. Division of module development. |
Completed! Problems Encountered: Finding the right components after going through various datasheets. |
2 | 4/24 | 1. Making interface with LCD. 2. Drawing simple shapes. 3. Work on the overall design of the menu for LCD. |
Completed! Problems Encountered: Setting appropriate initial frequency for the LCD to light up. |
3 | 5/1 | 1. Interfacing the camera 2. Implementing menu class with sub-menus and items. 3. Designing hardware prototype. |
Completed! Problems Encountered: Not enough RAM for displaying more than 1 picture of size 100x100, Using interrupts for UART receive instead of normal function call. |
4 | 5/8 | 1. Design PCB and place order. 2. Integrating file explorer of the SD card onto LCD with GUI. 3. Putting everything together and making the working camera which capture image or video, and saving it on the SD card. |
Partially Completed! Problems Encountered: |
5 | 5/15 | 1. Integrating the modules together. 2. The whole case has LCD & driver and other side has SJONE and camera, perpendicular to this is the button with its PCB board. 3. Final testing and debugging of the system as a whole. |
Completed? Problems Encountered: |

Design & Implementation
The design section can go over your hardware and software design. Organize this section using sub-sections that go over your design and implementation.
Hardware Design
Discuss your hardware design here. Show detailed schematics, and the interface here.
Hardware Interface
In this section, you can describe how your hardware communicates, such as which BUSes used. You can discuss your driver implementation here, such that the Software Design section is isolated to talk about high level workings rather than inner working of your project.
Software Design
Show your software design. For example, if you are designing an MP3 Player, show the tasks that you are using, and what they are doing at a high level. Do not show the details of the code. For example, do not show exact code, but you may show psuedocode and fragments of code. Keep in mind that you are showing DESIGN of your software, not the inner workings of it.
Implementation
This section includes implementation, but again, not the details, just the high level. For example, you can list the steps it takes to communicate over a sensor, or the steps needed to write a page of memory onto SPI Flash. You can include sub-sections for each of your component implementation.
The camera is interfaced to the board through SPI communication protocol. The raw pixels are read from the camera to the SJONE board. There are five buttons on the camera. One of them used to capture an image and store it on the SD card. The LCD screen is interfaced again through SPI communication protocol. The raw pixels received from the camera are displayed on to the LCD screen.
Testing & Technical Challenges
Describe the challenges of your project. What advise would you give yourself or someone else if your project can be started from scratch again? Make a smooth transition to testing section and described what it took to test your project.
Include sub-sections that list out a problem and solution, such as:
<Bug/issue name>
Discuss the issue and resolution.
Conclusion
Conclude your project here. You can recap your testing and problems. You should address the "so what" part here to indicate what you ultimately learnt from this project. How has this project increased your knowledge?
